Secluded Elfenwood farm lies nested in a sun drenched valley beneath the Jay Mountain Range. Emerging from the woods through which the driveway ascends, one can see the 100 year old farmhouse across the field. Rich in history but renovated to modern standards the house is cozy and very private. A 5 acre hayfield separates the house and pastures from the forest which rings the property. Above the barn a vibrant little pond sports frogs and fish to delight anyone sitting in chairs along its bank. The house is set up to be off grid in any season if one so chooses. Just over 90 acres with maintained woods roads lets one partake in pastimes like hiking or cross country skiing. The barn was expanded to house and shelter horses or similar livestock, has an oversize heated workshop and an re-energizing cedar sauna. From the surrounding hushed woodlands an old orchard prompts wildlife to drop in on occasion whose antics are always entertaining to watch. Lovely views of Whiteface Mountain to the West and the Jay Range to the South provide gorgeous scenery and exceptional ambiance. Only every once in a very great while does a property like this become available with such an abundance of sought-after qualities.

The Farmhouse circa 1900’s was originally built on a laid stone foundation, measured 22′ x 17′ and was 1.5 stories high. Over the years there were additions built on both the West and East sides as well as a porch covering the South and West sides. A previous owner completely restored the house in 1993 including all new plumbing and wiring, a new septic system and a 400 foot drilled well. The current owner purchased the property in 1999, installed an entirely new kitchen and built a mudroom while extending the entire south facing deck. In 2011 the entire roof structure was removed and the 1/2 story was raised to be a full 2 story home. The remodel also included the addition of what is now the Master Ensuite. The original barn had a wing built on during the early years and the current owner built a matching wing on the opposite side as well as an addition to the back consisting of three horse stalls with and 8′ overhang. Also newly built in 2011 was a 20′ x 50′ equipment shed on a concrete slab.
